Hello friends 👋,
Last year, we published our first post on Getting Clinical. We wanted to put out a series of deep dives on all the invisible levers that impact how we get healthcare.
And, uh, it’s been a while.
Soon after our first post, we suddenly found ourselves in build mode: we doubled our team, relocated to NYC, revamped our core API, and launched a new healthcare LLM and three new products.
We’re still in build mode, but the atmosphere is very different — a year ago the world wasn’t focused on LLMs, what they can do, and what they’ll be needed for. Now, LLMs are all around us, and people are wondering how AI is going to change everything (and yes, “AI” is now firmly in the vernacular).
Since we began developing healthcare LLMs in 2019, we’ve learned so much about how to build and scale them in a complex domain, what can go wrong, and how to get it right. Reflecting on the moment, we decided to recommit to Getting Clinical to talk about it.
We still want to help demystify healthcare — look for posts on the history of healthcare data regulation, HIPAA, prior authorization, RWD, and more — but we’re especially excited to join the discourse on where healthcare AI can go. Somewhere between the blind optimism and the doom-and-gloom lies the truth of how AI will rewrite healthcare — so let’s get into it.
The next post drops tomorrow. We’re glad you’re here.
